The intra-gastric balloon is a plastic balloon placed in the stomach. This will induce a sensation of fullness and will help the patient to eat less. There will be a modest Weight loss, because the balloon must be removed after 6 months. The balloon is used as a short term rather than permanent solution to weight problems. Its complications include nausea & vomiting, Balloon rupture and intestinal obstruction.
